Position Details:

- Laboratory: Dr. Bahram Samanfar's lab at Ottawa Research and Development Centre, AAFC (Registration at the Department of Biology, Carleton University)
- Research Interests of Dr. Samanfar's Group:
  - Studying soybean functional genomics and transcriptomics (RNA sequencing) with a focus on seed protein content, QTL mining, novel gene discovery, and allele-specific marker development.
  - Studying soybean functional genomics with a focus on resistance to SCN.
  - Studying Lupin functional genomics with a focus on mapping and GWAS.

Basic Requirements:
- MSc candidates must hold a Bachelor of Science degree in a relevant field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, or Computational Biology) from a recognized institute with a minimum of an A- (80%) average overall.
- Ph.D. candidates must hold a thesis-based Master of Science degree in a relevant field (e.g., Molecular Biology, Molecular Genetics, Biochemistry, or related fields) from a recognized institute with a minimum of an A- (80%) average overall.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:
- Friendly, organized team player with an interest in research.
- Highly self-motivated and able to work independently.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills.
- Demonstrated excellence at the academic level and in research.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- Experience or knowledge in genomics, proteomics, plant cell biology, molecular mapping, and bioinformatics would be beneficial.
