The University of British Columbia (UBC) invites applications for a PhD position in the field of climate change effects on juvenile Pacific salmon and herring. This exciting opportunity is based at the Aquaculture and Climate Change Lab at UBC and the Hakai Institute on Quadra Island. Position Details:
- Conduct research on the effects of climate change on juvenile Pacific salmon and herring
- Gain experience working with ecologically and commercially significant fish species
- Develop skills in fish physiology, genetics, and bioimaging through laboratory work
- Enjoy the natural beauty and outdoor activities of Vancouver, consistently ranked as one of the world's most livable cities
Qualifications:
- MSc in Biology or a related field
- Prior experience in running experiments and laboratory analytical skills
- Ability to work independently and demonstrate strong initiative
- Practical experience in fish husbandry, fish physiology, and ocean acidification studies preferred
- Strong work ethic, creativity, problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work both independently and collaboratively
