Master Assistantship in Environmental Science, Conservation Biology, Remote Sensing

Position Details:

- Position: Graduate Assistantship
- Title: Using Applications in Remote Sensing to Assess Quality and Quantity of Emergent Marsh for Waterfowl
Field: Environmental Science/Conservation Biology/Remote Sensing
- Institution: College of Forestry, Agriculture & Natural Resources, University of Arkansas at Monticello
- Start Date: August 16, 2023
- Project Description: The project aims to document the benefits of emergent marsh wetlands to waterfowl by assessing the available energetic carrying capacity at the local scale. This will be achieved through the utilization of remote sensing techniques and machine learning models trained on previously collected vegetation data.
- Importance of Mapping and Classification: Mapping and classifying wetlands and emergent marshes is a crucial step in their protection and management on a large spatial scale.
