Position Details:
- A Ph.D. student is sought for a position in Structural Engineering to work under the advisement of Dr. Andre Barbosa at Oregon State University.
- Research focus: Infrastructure systems subjected to natural hazards, including seismic and tsunami effects on coastal built infrastructure (buildings, bridges, and ports) with a special emphasis on soil-fluid-structure dynamic interactions.
- Qualifications: Candidates should have an undergraduate or a Master's degree (preferred) with a focus on Structural Engineering or a related field. Strong background in seismic and tsunami performance of structures, high-fidelity finite element modeling, and/or probabilistic risk assessment is desirable.
- Preferred experience: Proficiency in OpenSees or other high-fidelity finite element software, fluid-structure interaction modeling, and coding in Python and/or MATLAB.
- Appointment: The position is expected to start on September 16, 2023, pending admission to the graduate program in Civil Engineering at Oregon State University.
