Position Details:
- Project: Exploring the impact of cow-calf contact on the health and welfare of dairy cows and calves, and dairy producer perceptions toward cow-calf contact.
- Department: Department of Animal and Food Sciences at UW-River Falls.
- Supervisor: Dr. Kate Creutzinger.
- Start Date: Summer or Fall 2023.
- Research Activities:
- Assessing the impact of cow-calf contact on dairy cow and calf health and welfare.
- Investigating producer perceptions of cow-calf contact.
- Collecting animal- and resource-based measures of welfare.
- Conducting interviews with dairy producers.
- Developing data protocols and performing data collection.
- Publishing research articles and completing a thesis.
- Qualifications:
- Motivated student with a strong interest in dairy cattle welfare and research.
- Bachelor's degree in animal science, dairy science, biology, psychology, or a related field (expected completion by May 2023).
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
