Multiple M.Sc. & Ph.D. Positions: Energy and Resource Recovery from Organic Waste

Position Details:
- Research Lab: Waste & Wastewater Biorefinery Lab
- Lab Leader: Dr. Ehssan Koupaie
- Department: Chemical Engineering
- University: Queen's University

Responsibilities:

- Conduct research as part of a $1.5M federally funded interdisciplinary project on waste valorization, circular economy, waste policies, sociology, life cycle assessment, and large data optimization.
- Engage with partners including municipalities, public utilities, and private industry.
- Focus on the following research topics:
  - Anaerobic co-digestion of municipal and agro-industrial organic waste
  - Pre-treatment technologies for enhanced bioconversion of organics
  - Resource recovery from wastewater sludge
  - Biohythane production from source-separated organics
  - Thermochemical conversion of lignocellulosic biomass to value-added products

Requirements:

- B.Sc. and/or M.Sc. in environmental engineering, chemical engineering, civil engineering, or related fields.
- Self-motivated individuals passionate about research.
