Project Title: Development and Evaluation of Nanobiofertilizers from Marine and Fish Waste: Effects on the Growth, Yield, and Phytonutrient Profile of Horticultural and Agronomic Crops
Project Background and Summary:
- The marine and fish industry generates significant revenue, but a large portion of fish waste is discarded.
- Fish waste decomposition can lead to water contamination and environmental harm.
- Nanotechnology offers sustainable options for converting fish waste into nanobiofertilizers.
- Nanobiofertilizers improve plant growth, yield, and nutrient use efficiency.
- The project aims to develop and evaluate nanobiofertilizers from fish waste for crop enhancement.
Qualifications for Admission:
- Applicants need an MSc degree in Agricultural Sciences, Biological Sciences, Environmental Sciences, or related fields.
- Cumulative weighted average of at least 75% (MUN grade system equivalent).
- Profound understanding of nanobiofertilizers and their applications.
- Experience in crop/fertilizer trials, experimental designs, and biostatistics is valuable.
Project Support:
- Project funding available for four years.
- Research assistantship: $24,000 per year.
- Position contingent on funding.
Expected Starting Date: Winter, 2024
Application Package:
- CV, cover letter, and copies of academic transcripts.
